Once you select the gateway, accept the “Terms and Conditions” to move forward.

You will then have to choose a payment mode – debit or credit card or net banking. When paying through Net Banking, you will have to select the bank and then choose “Pay Now”. Once the payment is completed, a “Payment Successful” and a transaction ID will be sent to your phone. This ID must be saved for any follow-ups or references in the future. If you wish to make the e-challan payment offline, you can do so by following the steps:

What is an e-challan and how it works? The E-Challan was founded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India or MoRTH. It is the digital variant of the paper challan that was first used by officers for those people who would break the law. The E-Challan works alongside CCTV cameras that are placed across the country to catch any offenders. 

The E-Challan is issued when an offence is spotted by the CCTV cameras and an officer sends a SMS to the offender’s phone detailing the offence committed. Once the challan is sent, the offender has 60 days to pay the fine. It was implemented under the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 and has since been amended in 2019.
