Vaisakhi, also known as Baisakhi, is an important festival celebrated in the Punjab region of India and by the Sikh community worldwide. It is celebrated on April 13 or 14 every year and marks the beginning of the Sikh New Year. The festival commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth, the community of initiated Sikhs, by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh guru, in 1699.
